Tom O’Carroll, the founder of Horse Sense Trading Company, has been driving equines for over 50
years. He has done it all – from big draft hitches to single miniatures; solitary farm work with 6
abreast Percherons to parades pulling the world’s largest radio through downtown Houston with a
team of ten ponies; chuckwagon races to sophisticated driven dressage in international competitions. He’s carried young folks to their wedding and old folks to their final resting place. He’s trained
hundreds of equines to pull a carriage and probably more humans to drive them. He’s made harnesses and built carriages.

Tom has seen almost everything – priceless antique coaches to the simplest homemade carts;
harnesses held together with baling twine to exquisite hand-made leather harnesses fit to pull a
queen’s carriage.

All this invaluable experience has made him very particular about the equipment he uses and what
he recommends to his students. At his Good Hands Training Center in Navasota, Texas, he saw a real need to get safe, quality equipment in the hands of equine drivers at a price that the average person
can afford. So Horse Sense Trading Company was born.
